Afshin Mehrpouya

Afshin Mehrpouya is Associate Professor of Accounting and Management Control Systems at
HEC Paris. Trained as a medical doctor in Iran, Mehrpouya also holds an MBA and PhD in
management. His research is broadly in genealogy of ideas, and sociology of quantification in
transnational governance. He currently studies the construction and use of different calculative
knowledge forms such as rankings and ratings in regulatory regimes. The empirical fields in which
he has explored these concerns include financial regulation, socially responsible investments, access
to medicines, sovereign wealth funds and the Chinese social credit systems. He is a member of the
editorial board of Accounting, Organizations and Society.
