Jennifer Greco
Thunberg Fellow, SCAS.
Postdoctoral Researcher in Astrophysics, Uppsala University
Jennifer Greco is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Astrophysics at the Department of Physics and Astro-
nomy at Uppsala University and a Thunberg Fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study.
Her research focuses on extrasolar planets (planets in other Solar Systems) in particular the study of
exoplanet atmospheres.
She received a bachelor’s degree in astrophysics from the California Institute of Technology, and a PhD
in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Toledo. She then left the United States and moved to
Sweden to start her position as a Thunberg Fellow in the fall of 2020.
Her PhD thesis work utilized near-infrared spectroscopy to characterize brown dwarfs, substellar objects
with properties intermediate between stars and planets. As a Thunberg Fellow, she will be expanding upon
this work, using high-resolution near-infrared spectroscopy from the CRIRES+ spectrograph to characterize
the atmospheres of extrasolar planets. Her publications include articles in AJ,
MNRAS, ApJ, and ApJS.
