SCAS Fellow Maria Ågren Has Been Granted Funding by the Wallenberg Foundations
Current SCAS Fellow Maria Ågren has been granted funding for five additional years by the Marcus
and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation. The extension of her Wallenberg Scholarship will enable Ågren to
continue her research within the framework of the 'Gender and Work' project, which was originally
initiated when she was appointed Wallenberg Scholar by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation in
2009.
The first part of the ‘Gender and Work’ project was carried out between 2010 and 2014 and the main
results of that project will soon appear in print under the title ‘Making a Living, Making a Difference:
Gender
and Work in Early Modern Society’. The second and upcoming part of the project is entitled
"What happened to the two-supporter model? Marriage, servanthood and spousal cooperation in Sweden
1750 to 1900".
Maria Ågren is Professor of History at Uppsala University. She is in residence at SCAS during the academic
year 2015-16.
