Former SCAS Fellow Amit Bhaduri To Be Awarded the Leontief Prize
The 2016 Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought will be awarded to
former SCAS Fellow Amit Bhaduri and Diane Elson at a ceremony to be held on 10 March. The
award recognizes the contributions
made by Bhaduri and Elson to economic understandings of
development, power, gender, and human
rights.
The Leontief Prize, in memory of Wassily Leontief, is awarded by the Global Development And
Environment Institute (GDAE) at Tufts University and is designed to recognize outstanding
contributions to economic theory that address contemporary realities and support just and
sustainable societies.
The
theme of this year's award is "Development
and Equity".
Amit Bhaduri is Professor Emeritus at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and currently Visiting
Chair
Professor of Political Economy at Goa University. He was a Fellow in residence at SCAS in
the spring
of 1997.
