27 New Nominations for the Pro Futura Scientia Programme
27 researchers, affiliated to 21 universities/research institutes in nine countries, have been nominated to
the eleventh round
of
the
Pro Futura Scientia Programme. Ten women and seventeen men, representing
a wide
range of subjects within the social
and
human sciences,
are now competing for the Pro Futura XI
positions.
The nominations for this round have been received from eleven universities. In addition to eight
Swedish
universities, the Universities of Cambridge, Copenhagen and Tartu have also nominated candidates.
The Pro Futura Scientia Programme for early career scholars was set up in 1999 by the Swedish
Collegium
for Advanced Study (SCAS) and Riksbankens
Jubileumsfond (the Swedish Foundation
for
Humanities and
Social Sciences; RJ) in order to give especially
promising researchers in the
humanities
and social sciences
optimal scope for developing as researchers.
The programme provides
an attractive
career path for
promising
scholars, and those researchers who have attended the programme
in the past
have come to play an increasingly
important
role in the Swedish university and research system.
After a rigorous
selection
procedure, some 15 per cent of the
nominees will eventually be admitted
to
the programme. The final decision
regarding the Pro Futura XI Fellow appointments is
expected to
be made in May/June 2016.
