News from the SCAS Community: Academies; Prizes and Awards
Professor Stephen Mitchell (Harvard University) has been named the 2019 recipient of
the Jarl Gallén Prize.
Mitchell was in residence at the Collegium in the spring semester of 2013.
The Thuréus Prize for the History-Archaeology Class has been awarded to Professor
Ingela Nilsson (Uppsala University; Swedish Research Institute Istanbul) by the Royal
Society of
Sciences at Uppsala.
Nilsson is a former SCAS Pro Futura Fellow. She was in residence at the Collegium in
the academic
years 2007-08 and 2010-11.
The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), bestowed by the United States Government, has been conferred upon Dr Sohini Ramachandran (Brown University).
Ramachandran was a Fellow in residence at SCAS the spring semester of 2019.
Dr Henrika Tandefelt (University of Helsinki) has been awarded De Svenska Historie-
dagarna's Stig Ramel
Prize
2019.
Tandefelt was a Fellow at the Collegium in the spring of 2015.
Professor Folke Tersman (Uppsala University) has been elected member of the 'Class for humanities and for outstanding services to science' of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Tersman was a SCAS Fellow in the autumn of 2008.
