SCAS Presents the 20th Generation of Pro Futura Scientia Fellows

Today, SCAS is delighted to present the 20th cohort of promising young scholars who will join the Pro Futura Scientia Programme.
Set up by SCAS and Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (RJ) in 1999, Pro Futura Scientia is a cutting-edge research programme in the humanities and social sciences. The idea is to provide optimal conditions for young researchers and give them a chance to pursue curiosity-driven research for a five-year period. A one (to one-and-a-half) year stint at SCAS and a year abroad are included in the programme. Admittance to the programme is based upon nominations by Swedish universities. The selection procedure is handled by an international committee organized and run by RJ.
In the most recent round, 15 universities across Sweden nominated 36 early-career scholars to the prestigious programme. After the usual thorough selection process, five new Fellows have now been named, namely:
Siska De Baerdemaeker, Stockholm University
Research project: Deciding on the Pursuit of Large Scale Experiments
Victoria Gierok, Lund University
Research project: State Formation, Inequality and Growth in Early Modern Europe
Sandra Håkansson, Uppsala University
Research project: Drivers and Consequences of Political Violence in Democracies (PV-DEM)
Alezini Loxa, Lund University
Research project: Revisiting the Normative Foundations of EU Migration Law
Fredrik Renard, Stockholm University
Research project: Falling Matters: On Weight and Gravity in and around the Modern German Novel
In addition, the Board of Riksbankens Jubileumsfond has granted Janina Neufeld, who was admitted to the programme in 2020 (PF XV), a two-year extension of her Pro Futura Scientia Fellowship.
