Linda Andersson Burnett & Bruce Buchan's book Race and the Scottish Enlightenment: A Colonial History, 1750–1820 (Yale University Press, 2025) has been shortlisted for the Pickstone Prize 2026 External link, opens in new window..
The book was finalized when Buchan, who is Professor of History at Griffith University, was a Fellow at SCAS in the spring semester of 2024. Andersson Burnett is Associate Professor of History of Science and Ideas at Uppsala University and an incoming Fellow for the academic year 2026-27.

Anders Ekström has been named the first recipient of Svenska Akademiens essä- och kritikpris External link, opens in new window. 2026 (the essay and critic prize of the Swedish Academy), which was instituted earlier this year. He will be presented with the prize at the Gothenburg Book Fair in September. The prize sum totals SEK 100 000.
Anders Ekström is Professor of History of Science and Ideas at Uppsala University. He is currently in residence at the Collegium as a Global Horizons Senior Fellow and was also a Fellow at SCAS in the spring of 1999.

The Grand Prize of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters – the Professor E. J. Nyström’s Prize 2026 External link, opens in new window. - has been awarded to Tuomas Heikkilä, who receives it "in recognition of his versatile and pioneering research in medieval studies". The prize sum totals €50,000.
Tuomas Heikkilä is Professor of Church History at the University of Helsinki. He was an Erik Allardt Fellow at SCAS in the spring of 2010.

Olle Risberg has been elected member of the Academy Board of the Young Academy of Sweden External link, opens in new window. for 2026-27.
Olle Risberg is a SCAS Pro Futura Scientia Fellow, currently in residence (AY 2025-26). He is Docent/Researcher at the Department of Philosophy, Uppsala University and Project Coordinator at the Institute for Futures Studies, Stockholm.

Last week, Sigrid Schottenius Cullhed and some of her colleagues in the Young Academy of Sweden wrote a debate article in Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet External link, opens in new window. on the role of the university, Bildung and faith in the future in uncertain times.
Sigrid Schottenius Cullhed is Docent/Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Uppsala University. She was in residence at the Collegium in the autumn of 2025.

Tomasz Zarycki has been elected ordinary member of the Academia Europaea/ External link, opens in new window.the Academy of Europe. He is member of the Social Change and Social Thought section.
Tomasz Zarycki is Professor at the R. Zajonc Institute for Social Studies at the University of Warsaw. He was a Johan Peter Falck Fellow at SCAS in the academic year 2020-21.
