NetIAS

Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study

Created in 2004, the Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NetIAS) is an informal association of 25 institutes for advanced study in seventeen European countries. It aims to serve as a platform for dialogue between the member institutes on IAS practices and possible forms of cooperation, as well as discussions with the European Union about possible contributions to the development of a European research region and the European programmes promoting research. The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study was one of the founding members of NetIAS.

Among the network’s joint activities is the Constructive Advanced Thinking (CAT) programme, launched in 2019.

NetIAS is coordinated by the RFIEA Foundation (Réseau français des instituts d’études avancées).

Since 2022, Christina Garsten, Principal of SCAS, is President of NetIAS. Olivier Bouin, Director, Réseau français des instituts d’études avancées, Lyon, has been Secretary of NetIAS since 2009.
