Maria Ojala is Professor of Socio-Ecological Resilience at the Frontiers of Arctic and Global Resilience (FRONT) program, University of Oulu, Finland. She has a master’s degree in psychology from Lund University, a PhD in psychology from Örebro University, and has worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, Uppsala University.
Ojala’s main research interest concerns how young people think, feel, act, learn, and communicate about global sustainability problems, with a focus on climate change. As a short-term researcher at SCAS, she will work with two articles based on data from the Forte financed project “To trust or not to trust? Youth’s attitudes, emotions, and trust in climate-change science”. The articles focus specifically on trust in scientific and technological solutions to the climate-change problem.
Maria Ojala is in residence early November - early December 2025.
