Before coming to Oxford in 2004, Schroeder was Professor in the School of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University in Gothenburg. He completed his PhD about Max Weber at the LSE in 1988. He has authored or co-authored more than 180 papers. His recent book publications include An Age of Limits: Social Theory for the 21st Century (Palgrave Macmillan 2013) and, with Eric T. Meyer, Knowledge Machines: Digital Transformations of the Sciences and Humanities (MIT Press 2015), and Online Politics in India and China: Social Theory beyond East and West (forthcoming: Oxford University Press). Recent projects include ‘The Radicalisation of Sweden’s Image: A study of how radical right groups in other countries depict Sweden online’ funded by the Swedish Research Council and led by Umeå University.
