Ruby Lal's book Vagabond Princess: The Great Adventures of Gulbadan (Yale University Press, 2024) is shortlisted for the 2025 James Tait Black Prize in Biography External link, opens in new window. It is also a Nominee in Biography for the 2025 Georgia Author of the Year Award. External link, opens in new window.

Lal is Professor of South Asian History at Emory University. She was a Fellow at the Collegium in the academic year 2020-21 and worked on Vagabond Princess during her time in residence.

Axel Palmér has been appointed Assistant Professor in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and Philology at Uppsala University.

Palmér is a Human Past Junior Fellow at SCAS in the academic year 2024-25
