The Inaugural Recipient of the Hernes-CAS Mobility Grant Will Join SCAS

Last week it was announced that Rosie (Rosemary Rhiannon) Bishop, Associate Professor at the Museum of Archaeology, University of Stavanger, is the first recipient of the recently launched Hernes-CAS Mobility Grant External link, opens in new window..

The Hernes-CAS Mobility Grant targets researchers who are or have been PIs at the Centre for Advanced Study (CAS External link, opens in new window.) in Oslo, a sister institute of SCAS. It aims at strengthening international research networks and increase collaborative opportunities, and offers CAS PIs a five-month fully-funded research residency either at SCAS or at the Paris Institute for Advanced Study.

Rosie Bishop has chosen SCAS for her research stay and will be in residence sometime during the next academic year (2026-27). Her research project will focus on ancient farming productivity.

The grant was launched in collaboration with Gudmund Hernes and is supported by the Hernes Foundation.
