Jack Wright defended his PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge in 2019. He previously studied Philosophy and Mathematics (MA), Economics (GradDip), Mathematics (MSc), and History and Philosophy of Science (MPhil) at the University of Edinburgh, UC Berkeley, the London School of Economics, the University of Toronto, and the University of Cambridge. He was previously a research associate at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Cambridge (2018-22), and a senior lecturer/docent at the University of Gothenburg (2022-26).

Wright’s work combines philosophical and sociological perspectives on science and economics to answer questions regarding the use of scientific and economic knowledge in political and policy contexts. Wright’s research hierarchy is research communities, objectivity, and expertise has been published in several leading journals – including Economics and Philosophy, Episteme, and Synthese. Wright’s Pro Futura Scientia work examines the epistemic virtues of different ways of organising scientific research and the social and institutional conditions required for science to produce reliable outputs.
