The Natural Sciences Programme

4) Exoplanets and Biological Activity on Other Worlds

The Exoplanets and Biological Activity on Other Worlds theme originates from the fact that recent
discoveries of planets around other stars suggest that the chances of life on other worlds might be
larger than we have previously thought. The possibilities to study their atmospheres and to use
novel observational techniques to search for traces of life are likely to increase. This development
requires collaboration between researchers from different fields within the natural sciences, but also
with scholars from other disciplines, including from the humanities.
