Swedish Archbishop Antje Jackelén Reviews Hans Joas' Book on Faith as an Option
In a programme broadcast by Swedish public radio, Sveriges Radio P1, on the 4th of February, the
Swedish Archbishop Antje Jackelén reviews and reflects upon a book written by SCAS Long-term
Fellow Hans Joas, namely Glaube als Option: Zukunftsmöglichkeiten des Christentums (Herder 2012,
2013)/Faith as an Option: Possible Futures for Christianity (Stanford University Press
2014). The
book
has recently been translated into Swedish and was published by Daidalos in 2015: Tro som
alternativ: Kristendomens framtidsutsikter.

Hans Joas is
Ernst Troeltsch Professor at the Faculty of Theology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin,
and
Professor of Sociology and Social Thought at the University of Chicago. He is also Non-resident
Long-term Fellow for Programmes in Theoretical and Historical Social Science
and Religious Studies
at SCAS, and has been in residence on several occasions, most recently in the spring term of 2010.
